Conscientious Objection during the First World War:
Ebenezer was exempted from combatant service as a Plymouth Brethren (Open)

War Service:
He was conscripted into the Non-Combatant Corps on 29 August, 1916 at Camberwell. He served at home, with the 7 Eastern and 4 Southern until 24 March, 1919 when he was demobilised.
