Conscientious Objection during the First World War:
Ted's motivation is unknown, but he was granted exemption from military service conditional on his serving in the Non-combatant Corps

War Service:
He was enlisted into the Non-combatant Corps on 22 August 1916 and served with the 2 company Eastern and the 4 Company Southern Corps until he was demobbed.
